To Our Parish Family of Christ Church, On Sunday, April 24th, in a special meeting of vestry, we as the Parish of Christ Church Chatham, voted unanimously to proceed with the Capital Improvements as outlined by the engineering firm of D.C. McCloskey Engineering Ltd. The presentation to Vestry included a Power Point Presentation outlining the recommended maintenance issues of church, hall and annex. The presentation spanned a ten (10) year program of outlining the needed repairs and recommended improvements. These were catalogued, prioritized and quantified in 2004 dollars. A second and equally important component of our “Let Your Light Shine” campaign is our commitment to develop a prioritized suite of additional programs which will build upon the foundation already in place. These programs will incorporate the Mission, Visions Goals and Objectives which we as a Vestry unanimously endorsed at our January Vestry. A project committee co-ordinated by Nelson Praill with the assistance of Derwyn Armstrong, fundraising and Bob Killby, property maintenance has been established. This committee will co-ordinate the fund-raising campaign, as well as co-ordinate the repairs and improvements, in a timely manner. Having made the decision to preserve our historic and beloved church, we must now begin the work of making this happen, both physically and financially. This letter is the first component of our fund-raising campaign, and will be followed by a package from the fund-raising committee, outlining the ways in which you can help us achieve our goals. We, as the Corporation of Christ Church, working on your behalf, ask you to be mindful of our general operating expenses and that the ongoing costs of administering our parish must be met. Deferring or transferring your regular offering into the Capital Improvement Fund, will allow us to reach our fundraising goal, but will cause us to fall behind in terms of our general operating budget. We are truly thankful for your support of the on-going ministry at Christ Church and are confident that you will help us to achieve the goal we have set. Watch for updates as they appear each week and as they appear on our web site. If you have any comments, questions or observations please don’t hesitate to contact any of the members of the “Let your Light Shine” committee, or members of Corporation. Wishing you every blessing as we launch our “Let your Light Shine” Campaign, The Corporation of Christ Church, Chatham |
